Tho Chau is also the furthest offshore island commune in an inlet of the Gulf of Thailand that adjoins the southwestern coast of Vietnam. It is administered by the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang and is 100 nautical miles off the provincial capital city of Rach Gia. In recent years, offshore fishing crews from the provinces of Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Ben Tre, Ca Mau, and others have stayed in this area for months at a time, according to Lt. Col. Doan Ngoc Giang, head of the Tho Chau Border Post. “Tho Chau is considered a significant fishery and also an important base for fishing logistics, which makes it a hectic, lively market in the middle of the sea,” he added. Thriving fishing crews have helped nourish an array of support services in the area, such as charter ships which procure the fishermen’s catch in exchange for ice, gasoline, and other necessities, all while bringing food and fresh water to the island. Vietnam joins global efforts to respond to climate change

Hình ảnh
Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our times. Its increasingly complex and multi-faceted impacts threaten the very survival of many communities and even entire countries. It can exacerbate instabilities and conflicts, endangering regional and global peace and security. No single country can solve this alone. Support to developing countries must be strengthened to effectively respond to climate change, especially in terms of finance and technological transfer for climate change adaptation and mitigation. Jumping fish This dish is popular among Thai families in the northern mountainous province Son La. The main ingredient is raw baby carp, which are as small as two fingers. The fish must be alive. They are placed in clean salt water for 1-2 hours so that the fish can discharge all inside impurities. The live fish is processed and eaten at the dining table. Fish is mixed with spices. While tasting this cuisine, diners can still feel the fish “jumping” in their mouth. That’s why this dish is named “ca nhay” or jumping fish. Coconut worms The coconut worm has long been considered a specialty food of the southern province of Ben Tre.
