Acclaimed Vietnamese Artists Triumph at Prestigious International Circus Festival in Russia

Luu Thi Bich Lien, deputy director of the Phuong Nam Art Theater in Ho Chi Minh City and trainer to Hien Phuoc and Thanh Hoa, described the festival as a prestigious quadrennial event. The seventh iteration of the festival brought together almost 100 artists from 12 countries and regions, including China, Mongolia, Vietnam, Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. Despite their prior experience in international circus competitions, Thanh Hoa confessed to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that she and Hien Phuoc were still anxious awaiting the results of this festival. The Hanoi Opera House will host Mat biec (Dreamy Eyes), a night of music featuring love songs by composer Ngo Thuy Mien, on August 12. Music director Nguyen Quang will tell the audience a respectful love story between Ngo Thuy Mien and his wife, Doan Thanh Van, who inspired the artist to compose throughout his life. Mien said all the songs are dedicated to Van, his only love. The couple currently live together in the US. Mien was born in 1948 in the northern city of Haiphong.
