Vietnam’s Binh Thuan glows during opening night of National Tourism Year

The National Tourism Year 2023 will feature over 200 events, with 13 of them to be organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and other ministries. Among them, Binh Thuan Province will host more than 30 cultural, tourism and sports events, while rolling out 164 other events with the participation of 41 centrally-administered cites and provinces throughout the year. Money does grow on trees: Marketplace where leaves replace cash a big hit in southern Vietnam

This year’s leaf market was hosted by the People’s Committee, the Women’s Union, and the Youth Union in Phu Binh Ward, Long Khanh City, Dong Nai Province and featured 23 booths selling 33 kinds of food, drinks, and goods. Visitors to the marketplace were given three leaves each which they could exchange for products. By the end of the day, most booths had sold out of their products, leaving only happy vendors with handfuls of leaves. Metal Age relics unearthed at Hanoi’s Dong Dau hill

Although the excavated area is not large, archaeologists have found a diverse set of artifacts made from stone and bronze. The stone objects include production tools such as axes, hammers, chisels, and jewelry. Archaeologists have also unearthed around 5,000 pieces of pottery belonging to Phung Nguyen, Dong Dau, and Go Mun civilisations. Dong Dau hill site is one of the important archaeological relic sites in Hanoi, making an important contribution to proving the presence, settlement and development in the Metal Age in Hanoi. At present, most of the archaeological relic sites of the Metal Age in Hanoi have disappeared due to urbanisation. The remainder of sites include Vuon Chuoi, Go Hen, and Dong Dau hill.
