Classical music festival happening in Da Lat

The week-long festival showcases the talents of more than 100 local and international artists.

The festival is organized by the Vietnam Youth Music Institute and Vietfest, an international company founded in Vietnam that specializes in large-scale entertainment and cultural projects.

The festival kicked off with a live concert and a painting exhibition at Ana Mandara Villas Dalat Resort & Spa.

On the same day, renowned local opera singers performed at Pho Ben Doi Creative Studio.

The festival will take place at four different locations and will feature some paid events.

The majority of the festival’s programs, however, are free and will be held in public spaces to cater to both locals and tourists.

Highlights of the festival include the performance of a trio called Song Hong Trio in the Flower Town, a Beethoven piano solo, and a concert titled Sunset.

The festival aims to bring classical music to every corner of the city, from narrow streets and parks to help the audience easily access this type of music.

In late October last year, along with Hoi An City in Quang Nam Province, Da Lat was recognized as one of the new global creative cities by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

This prestigious recognition made Da Lat a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network for music.

The festival aims to highlight the city’s dedication to preserving and developing various genres of music.

Established in 2004, the UNESCO Creative Cities Network encourages collaboration between certified cities and supports their sustainable development in the fields of economy, society, and environment.

The network recognizes seven creative fields: crafts and folk art, design, film, gastronomy, literature, media arts, and music.
