Hanoi Launches 2024 ASEAN Graphic Arts Competition and Exhibition

The ASEAN Graphic Arts Competition, now in its fourth iteration, commenced on May 31 in Hanoi. Initiated by the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition under Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the event occurs once every four years.

The competition serves as a platform for artists from across the region to exhibit their talents, exchange ideas and techniques, and foster cultural collaboration among ASEAN countries. Ma The Anh, Head of the Department, emphasized that the event also affirms Vietnam’s standing in the ASEAN fine arts arena.

Artists from ten ASEAN nations, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, can submit their entries via email to aseangraphicarts2024@gmail.com by August 5, 2024.
The competition showcases diverse landscapes and facets of life in ASEAN countries, while also addressing region-specific issues.

Artworks submitted should be produced between 2020 and 2024 and can encompass a range of graphic art forms, including woodcuts, metal engravings, plaster engravings, rubber engravings, stone prints, and unique prints. Themes should revolve around life, individuals, natural landscapes, peace, unity, cooperation, friendship, and contemporary topics.

The organizing committee will present one first prize, three second prizes, five third prizes, and seven consolation prizes. Additionally, approximately 200 graphic works will be chosen for exhibitions in Hanoi or Haiphong in December 2024. The inaugural ASEAN Graphic Arts Competition and Exhibition took place in 2012, and this year marks its fourth successful edition.
