In a thrilling Friday match at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in the Philippines, Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen led the Vietnamese team to their third consecutive title defense win. She was on fire, racking up 30 points with 26 attacks, three blocks, and an ace.
With captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy sidelined due to injury, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet turned to veteran players Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Doan Thi Lam Oanh, Tran Tu Linh, Nguyen Khanh Dang, and Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen to step up. Vietnam stuck to their proven system, showcasing smooth backcourt movements that effectively directed their offense.
The passing unit was exceptional, setting up the hitters for powerful attacks. Bich Tuyen and Kieu Trinh dominated the flanks, consistently delivering impressive performances. Their calm and collected transitions allowed them to maintain control in the middle, paving the way for swift attacks by Nguyen Thi Trinh.

The AVC Challenge Cup for Women is a highly regarded international tournament in Asia and Oceania. It is open to unranked senior women’s national teams affiliated with the Asian Volleyball Confederation, the continent’s governing body for volleyball.
First established in 2018, the tournament is held once every two years. Unfortunately, the inaugural edition, scheduled to take place in Hong Kong, had to be canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. Similarly, the subsequent edition in 2020 fell victim to the COVID-19 pandemic and met the same fate.
The winners of the AVC Challenge Cup earn a prestigious spot in the FIVB Women’s Challenger Cup, making it a highly coveted title.
