Vietnam’s Futsal Felinas: Pouncing Towards 2025 AFC Futsal Asian Cup Glory

With two consecutive wins under their belt, the team had already guaranteed their advancement before the game. The match against Taiwan, therefore, served as a decisive battle to crown the Group D category champions.

The game commenced with Taiwan seizing an early lead in the initial 10 minutes, prompting a swift timeout from Vietnamese head coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang.

Displaying resilience and tactical prowess, Vietnam responded magnificently, equalizing just a minute later. The goal was a testament to their teamwork, as Thuy Trang’s precise pass found Bien Thi Hang on the right wing. Hang then demonstrated her vision, delivering a perfect cross to Thanh Ngan, who made no mistake in finding the back of the net.

However, Taiwan struck back in the 17th minute, capitalizing on a corner kick. Su Hui Chi’s delivery was deftly flicked on by Lin Dai Chi, creating the opportunity for Liu Chih Ling to slot home from close range.

The second half witnessed a shift in dynamics, with Vietnamese players mounting relentless attacks while their Taiwanese counterparts opted for a more conservative approach to safeguard their advantage.

As the match clock ticked closer to the end, Vietnam introduced a power play, a tactical move that proved pivotal. With only 90 seconds left, Bien Thi Hang emerged as the hero, scoring the crucial equalizer to level the scores once again.

The final whistle signaled not just the end of the game but also the conclusion of Group D proceedings. Vietnam proudly topped the group with seven points from three matches, closely followed by Taiwan, who also amassed seven points but settled for second place due to an inferior goal difference.

Looking ahead, the 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup finals await in China, scheduled to take place from May 7 to 18. The Vietnamese team has their sights set on a top-three finish, which would secure their participation in the 2025 Women’s Futsal World Cup, set to be hosted in the Philippines.

Currently ranked 11th globally, Vietnam aspires to climb even higher in the world rankings.
